Competition rules:
All Matches are played under the rules laid down by the FIVB International Rules subject to amendments.
- Round Matches. Time limited, best of 5 sets. Sets (1-4) are to 25 points. 5th set is to 15. All sets will be rally point with a 2-point advantage. An unfinished set will be deemed complete if a team reaches 15 points (set 1-4) or 8 points (set 5) with a 2 point advantage. The rally being played at the end of time limit will be allowed to finish and counted. The maximum set score is 3-0. The warm-up period will be a max. of 10 minutes.
- No substitutions or time outs permitted in the last 5 minutes.
- Teams must be ready to start games on time, if a team (6 players) is not ready to take the court at the designated start time they lose the first set (25-0), after a further 10 minutes they lose the second set and after another 10 minutes they forfeit the match.
- Semi-finals will be best of 3 and Finals will be best 5 sets, or as determined by the T.D., the final set being to 15 points with a 2-point advantage.
- The 12-substitution rule will be used.
- A nominated libero will wear a different uniform and stay in that position for the whole match.
- Competition points will be awarded as follows: Win: 2 Draw: 1 Loss: 0 Forfeit/Duty Failure: -1
- If teams are equal on points at the end of the round matches the team with the higher percentage will be allocated the higher position. Firstly on sets for and against or if necessary on set point scores. In the event of this still not being conclusive highest number of points for.
- Duty team must provide:
– 1st Referee
– 2nd Referee
– Scorer
– 2 x lines people - All protests shall be addressed to the nominated Tournament Director
- A player is not able to play down in a lower division once they have played 2 games in the higher division, except if they are junior ( U/17 ). To qualify for a semis & finals match a player must play at least 50% of the games for that team (only to be Varied at TD’s discretion upon special request)
- The TD will have the ultimate right to make necessary changes to the draw and above rules dependent on the circumstances.
- All preliminary rounds are time limited
– All semi and cross over matches are best of 3 (no time limit )
– All finals are best of 5 (no time limit) - Player eligibility – All players must be registered with their own State Volleyball Association to be eligible to receive some financial assistance in the event of injury. Players who are not registered may wish to take up a casual one off registration with SVNSW for this tournament - $15 adults and $5 juniors. Casual registrations will be available on the day. Unregistered players play at their own risk and all responsibility for injury is waived.
